The Hadrah Competition

Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School Mentiri (SMPDSM) and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Secondary Arabic Religious School yesterday won the challenge trophy for the men’s and women’s categories respectively, at the 28th National Hadrah Finals for Colleges and Secondary Schools held at the Raja Isteri Girl’s high school (STPRI) in the capital on Saturday.

The competition, which saw six teams including one from Maktab Sains PSBS (women's category only) vying for first place in each of the two categories, was witnessed by the Acting Director of the Language and Literature Bureau, Hjh Aminah Hj Momin, who also handed over the prizes to the winners.

In the women’s category, Hassanal Bolkiah Boys’ Arabic Secondary School also came in second place and third place went to the host school, STPRI. Maktab Sains was ranked fourth!:O

The 12 group finalists in both the men’s and women’s categories made it through to the final stage Saturday after coming out best among 27 other groups from the preliminary stages.

Bandar Seri Begawan - Host Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Maktab Sains) shuttler Winnie Lim Huey Nee emerged victorious in the final of the Women's Single 'B' Under-15 category after beating Nur Iffah Dillah Ash of Lambak Kiri Secondary School 2-1 in the Zone II Inter-School Badminton Championship 2010 held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hjh Masna Secondary School (SM PAP Hjh Masna) yesterday.




Another shuttler from Maktab Sains, Natalie Goh Qi Hong easily beat Rabi'ah Abd Halim of Pusat Tingkatan Enam Katok (PTE Katok) 2-0 to win the Women's Single `D' 19-21 years-old category.








Present to give away trophies and certificates was the guest-of-honour Dk Sarimah Pg Haji Ahmad, Acting Principal of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College.
Twelve schools participated in this year's edition hosted by Maktab Sains including PAP Hjh Masna Secondary School, Berakas Secondary School, Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, Pg Isteri Hjh Mariam Secondary School, PDSM Mentiri Secondary School, Lambak Kiri Secondary School, PTE Katok, Mechanic Training Centre, Rimba Secondary School and PTE Meragang. -- from Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
